Solheimar eco village is in few minute drive from our cabin.

It's a sustainable community known for its artistic and ecological atmosphere where about 100 people live and work together. It was founded in 1930 by Sesselja Hreindís Sigmundsdóttir (1902-1974). It is a small village set out in the countryside, characterized by vegetation, open common spaces and buildings that nicely co-exist with the landscape.

The Solheimar community focuses on the growth and development of man and nature. The social emphasis is that different individuals are offered variable opportunities to work, live, and socialize.

The Coffee house at Sólheimar - Græna Kannan

Graena Kannan is the café and a main gathering area for Solheimar’s residents and visitors.  Only drinks and cakes from certified organic ingredients are sold here, including delicacies from Solheimar’s bakery.  Substantial renovations have been made to the premises as well as the menu and many more areas are now available for conversation, reading or browsing the internet using the free WIFI.

During the summer, Graena Kannan is open seven days a week, but hours are limited during the winter. You never know what might be happening at the café, so be sure to check the events feed to find out.
